Just a friendly word of warning to anyone considering this offer.
I subscribed to their last offer, which had a similar free gift, but the magazine was £9.99 for 2 years. What I found was that the free gift was a limited number, so I got sent a dvd instead, which was utter rubbish. What I also found that Maxim is not the magazine it used to be when it first came out. I remember it actualy having some journalistic content in it, ie articles I could read. Now, there are no words I can find to describe the magazine without using expletives.... although I will try...It is quite simply utter utter trash. I wouldnt use it to wipe my behind on the toilet its so bad. Its just full of stupid comments, with the occasional scantily clad women with stupid comments attached.....not that I have anything against scantily clad women you understand, but these days there is the t'internet for such things....however there are now nothing that could be described as articles. The Nintendo DS was recently "reviewed", which is quite a big thing really, a new console release, and it got a picture and about 1 inch of column space.....now I know its not a video games magazine, but this is something that I would have thought a lot of their target audience would be buying, and therefore deserved more coverage.
After 3 issues, I couldnt stand any more, and I rang them begging them not to send one again. I got the sub passed onto a mate at work, who will no doubt do the same after he receives a few.
Sorry for the rant, its just important you know what your subscribing to.0 -

I have to agree, it's a total non magazine.
I also used to get it years ago - was pretty much along the same lines as Loaded, Sky, FHM with the usual totty and laddish stuff but also with some decent interviews and features. You're lucky to get a 1 page snippet of anything remotely interesting. Nowadays, it seems to be aimed at chavs with very short attention spans. I'm glad I took the deal because I got a very nice free gift thank you but I'll never buy an issue again and after a quick flick, my copy goes in the bin. And I don't mean *that* type of "quick flick" - because the quality of the photos are pretty appalling. They actually make some rather nice women look dodgy or pretty unnapealing (eg recent issues with Jodi Albert and Nikki Sanderson.)
What a crappy magazine, it must be heading down the pan.0 -
I did the £9.99 deal, too! It is THE worst mag EVER.
Don't get it even for the free gift. It is NOT worth it.0 -
Ive took up 3 offers from Maxim over the last couple of years - all promising free gifts when you sign up like Nivea kits etc, although the magazines have always arrived, the gifts never have!0

True, I guess, the gifts make it palatable.
This IS the only way they stay afloat because no-one must buy that mag otherwise0
