Take a look at the Paris Pass - I have just ordered the London Pass for a trip next weekend and seen Paris advertised. Apparently you buy your pass for however many days you want and it gets you in free or very cheaply at venues in and around Paris and for a little extra you get your travel thrown in too.
Have a great time!!!

My one tip would be Chartiers to eat - had to google to find the address, but is 7 Rue Faubourg Montmartre apparently. I was taken here when visiting friends who live in just outside Paris - food was gorgeous, we had two courses each plus shared wine & it came to £10 a head! It was originally a student dining hall, and be prepared for very rude waiters and no English translations - but it all adds to the fun! I'm very jealous...Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Is that place still going? Do the waiters still dress like Rene in 'allo 'allo?
The last time I went there, there was a queue 200 yards long:mad: but worth the wait.
As I understand it, they had (about 10 years ago anyway) another two restaurants - one not too far from the Champs Elysee - not quite the same 'ambience' though.
Another place, worth going to, is 'Nos ancetres, les gaulois' on the Ile de la Cite - free entertainment most nights:beer:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. Cos I was with 'locals' we managed to avoid the queue - by going in for lunch at about 11.30!
There's a picture by Beryl Cook of it too... http://www.berylcook.org/store/ProductDetails_UnLinked.aspx?productID=175
Oh, and if you go just as a couple they're perfectly likely to squeze you onto a table with other people!

Nice picture Storm, but at that price I think I'll wait for the postcard:rolleyes:
Worked in Paris myself for about ten years and have to admit that Chartiers was one of my most regular eateries:beer:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.

I know that we're definatly going to Montmarte so i will definatly try there!!
Apparently, we're staying in Nottradam, and on the first night we're going on a little boat that takes you down the river to see all the sights, then we're having dinner on another static boat, which has live entertainment and things!

Hello
I live in Paris so thought I'd chip in with a few tips. The last Sunday of the month is free for most (possibly all - definitely the major ones like the Louvre, Orsay) museums although will probably be very busy so if you're planning to take advantage of this, try to get there early. I've never actually been to Chantiers but rue Faubourg Montmartre is (rather confusingly) not actually in Montmartre, its more towards the centre of Paris. Montmartre is very lovely, highly recommend it, particularly the Sacre Coeur and the view - theres a funicular railway that goes to the top of the hill which costs one metro ticket or if you're feeling fit, there are stairs! If you go to Montmartre I'd recommend going to Blanche metro station and walking up rue Lepic (up the hill from Blanche) this is the street that Amelie's cafe (deux moulins - quite overpriced though!) that was in "Amelie" and is very nice if you like food as there's lots of little food shops. (Actually I think that the main metro station in montmartre, Abbesses is closed for works at the moment anyway).
I assume that Nottradam = Notre Dame and you're staying on Ile de la Cite? I think this is quite quiet in the evening, but just over the river is the Marais, which is a really nice area with lots of cafes. Its the old Jewish area so is one of the few places in Paris where lots of things are open on a Sunday and has lots of nice little shops to potter round in. (Lots of shops and some restos are closed on a Sun).
For public transport, you can buy a carnet of 10 tickets for 13 euros I think or a moblis day card for 5,50 euros I think - try to avoid the paris visite card which is usually sold to tourists, as this is more expensive and (in my view anyway) overpriced. Paris is very walkable though, and it sounds like you're staying v centrally.
If you have any questions or would like some recommendations for restos just let me know and I'll try to help.
