I have just discovered that I have a CCJ against me from the water company and in fact they have successfully applied a final charging order to the house.
I dont doubt that i owe the money and am happy to pay it back but I have had no paper work, dont know who i should be paying when and how much.
I have my water bill which includes the outstanding amount so im guessing that i just continue to pay that.
What happens to the final charging order when i want to move. Bit confused as to what actions if any i should be taking

Is it Severn Trent ?
Phone them up and ask if you can set up a repayment agreement, hubby hadto do this. He hadto fill in a form detailing his living expenses, then they worked out what he could pay.
Once this is paid the water compnay will send you a letter confirming that you have paid the amount. I think you then have to send that off to the Land Registry so they can lift the charge.
You will have to pay off what you owe when you sell your house.
I would arrange a good amount to pay off each month if you can afford it.
Hubby paid £50 a month and it took about 2 years to pay it off.Just owe Dad £2500 for a new car

Have recpeits of all my payments in case they dispute what i have paid. Thanks again for your help

When hubby had to pay extra the extra amount was added onto his yearly bill so it was quite hard to work out what he owed, we kept having to phone up every few months. He didnt haveto pay through a solicitor or court either.Just owe Dad £2500 for a new car

Did you not receive a court summons?
When did they inform you of the CCJ and Charging Order?
Normally you would have received a summons and a CCJ before a charge would have been put on your property. It seems strange, therefore, that you have been informed of the charging order without any previous paperwork.
Could you, perhaps, ring the Water Authority and ask when and where the CCJ was obtained.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.

the first i knew about the charging order was when i recieved a letter from land registry informing me. I have never recieved any paper work. Checked my credit record and that shows a ccj from south west

Hi Emma
Then you need a solicitor's advice ASAP - See if there is one that gives a free half hour consultation - CAB should be able to give you a list of local solicitors who offer this service.
There is something definitely wrong here - I could understand if one letter had gotten lost in the post, but there should have been a LOT of paperwork before getting to where you are now and it can not possibly all have been lost. Could even have never existed.
Hope you sort it
