Tax Query

in Cutting tax
I'm looking at leaving me employment at the end of December to go to Australia. I will not be working in this country again until early 2012. We work April to April at this company and I have 18 days for this year left plus 20 days I will have accrued for next year, 38 in days in total. Does anyone know if I'll be in line for a tax rebate as well in April or will me holiday days count towards my 'earnings' up to end of tax year?

You are mixing up tax legislation with employment law. If you are out of the UK for at least the period 6/4/11 to 5/4/12, then you will not be liable to UK tax and you can make your repayment claim as soon as you leave work and receive your P45. You send this to your tax office with form P85. Your holiday pay will be include in your final pay and it does not matter to what period this payment relates.0

You will probably be entitled to a tax rebate for the current year which ends 5 April 2011. You will need your P45 to send to the tax office together with a letter explaining your situation. The only thing that is constant is change.0
