To accompany an unusual pie

Our butcher does excellent 'home made' pies. I frequently buy one for Friday's dinner because it is quick and easy to heat through and serve with mash and veg. Usually it is steak and kidney or beef and onion or chicken and mushroom; ie traditional pie fillings. This week they had a chicken tikka masala pie and I bought it on a whim.:rotfl:

Now, I don't think it is going to go well with mash and veg so I was looking for any ideas on an accompaniment.

All suggestions welcome:).

I expect you'll get something more inspiring than my offering, but I'd got for Peas and Sweetcorn for me and same with wedges for OH.

Sounds nice to me, I'd have bought that as well :)
  • Think of it as a curry and serve with rice, flatbreads, pickles, and yoghurt :)

I'd probably do an indian potato dish like aloo gobi ( potatoes, cauliflower, tomatoes and onions with spices) and then it's a bit like your potatoes and veg, except indian style.

Thanks so far. An Indian vegetable dish doe s ound like a good idea.
  • I think I'd do a sloppy garlic mash & roasted veg. That way its still a traditional pie meal, but the pie will give it a twist. For me, doing everything else on an Indian theme would detract from the pie itself. Just my opinion.

    mushroom bhaji would be nice.

Cauliflower & potato curry is an indian side dish - might be nice with this pie.
