National Grid - Motivational Telephone Discussion

Hello,
I've applied for a job with National Grid, after submitting my CV and doing a online situational judgement test i have been invited for a "Motivational Telephone Discussion" at 13:15 today.
Does anyone know what a Motivational Telephone Discussion is? The email i got requesting me to take part in one has stated it will take no longer than 20 minutes.
Here is a quote direct from the NG website;
"During these eight weeks you will need to complete an online questionnaire (Situational Judgement Test - SJT) and where appropriate the Motivation Discussion or Telephone Interview."
From this i get the distinct impression it is completley different from a telephone interview.
Any help would be appreciated.

They'll be looking to find out what motivates you.
These are typical behavioural type questions you might come across:- Interview Question: Describe a project you were involved in that really excited you? How long did that feeling last? (looking for dedication & passion)
- Interview Question: Tell me about a time when you willingly volunteered for a task? (shows initiative in taking additional work, & always interested in increasing awareness).
- Interview Question: Tell me about a hurdle which got in the way of achieving an ambitious goal. How did you go about overcoming it? Want to see you are a hard worker with ambitious goals who does not surrender easily)
- Interview Question: Tell me about a goal you achieved which at some points seems hopeless? Why did you keep going on? (Shows energy and commitment. Illustrate how you work hard, but are not obsessive/ good work life balance etc)
- Interview Question: Describe a work related goal that you have set for yourself (Appear to self-motivate by setting ambitious goals and targets)
- Interview Question: Can you tell me at least three things that you have done in the past year to improve yourself, both business-wise and competency wise? (You should show an interest in learning new things, be self-motivated, and want to be as qualified as possible.)
- Interview Question: Tell me about a time when you and your whole team were demoralized for some reason. What do you do to raise spirits? (Express yourself as a team player. Be self-motivated and group motivated. Do not give up easily and have the ability to empathize with other colleagues.)
- Interview Question: Would you regard yourself as a self-starter? Can you give me a recent example where you displayed this quality (Answers should prove that applicant can self-motivate by setting ambitious goals, working hard, and keeping up with current trends - demonstrate this quality with appropriate examples)
Above all, have some real life examples to illustrate the above when they come up.
There are loads more examples online. Google behavioural based interview questions, or motivational interview techniques.
From a google search on national grid interviews, it seems this and the telephone interview is quite chatty and not at all imposing.
Good luckThe only thing we know for sure, is that we know nothing0 - Interview Question: Describe a project you were involved in that really excited you? How long did that feeling last? (looking for dedication & passion)

How did it go.
What sort of questions did they actually ask in the end.
I have a motivational interview with BAE on friday, they are very vague. Not much guidance has been given to help me prepare.0 -
Hi everyone.
I found this while searching for National Grid "Motivational telephone discussion". I had one a few weeks ago and as the original poster has not told us how it went  I will!
It is not an interview so don't worry. I was really stressed for no reason. All they do is go through and check a few details on your application form, make you aware of a few things and check that you still want to apply. I think it is probably just to get rid of the people who just fill in any and all job application forms they can find.
It's really nothing to worry about, it took about 10-15 mins.
Hope this helps.0 -
just had this call this afternoon, here are the questions I can remember, it took less than 20 mins.
they check all your details are up to date including if you have a driving licence.
why do you want to work for National Grid
Are you able to be away from home at block clusters at a time
they check you are ok to relocate out of your own pocket if you are out of the catchment area
what benefits do you expect from the scheme
are you ok going back to college, 50% is site work, 50% is at university
ask you a bit about your previous job0 -
Hi all,
I passed the SJT (as they informed me) two weeks ago and I wait for the tel interview ( I haven’t stop thinking about it). Shall I wait till they reply or should I call them? Is the first part of the interview about NG (why you applied for NG, why you applied for this position, where did you hear about the company, what do you know about NG as a company and business etc)? is the second part about skills you may have and if yes on what kind of skills are the questions aimed? Any other questions that I may come across? Are the questions clear enough or is it better to clarify them before answer them? Is it really tough?
Any help and advices are much appreciated. Thanks0
