I have just subscribed and at the bottom of my email it says:

If a gift applies to this offer, please note this will be sent under separate cover and you should allow up to 28 days for delivery.

So it would seem it will be here before the subscription starts x

For the empire magazine you'll have to pay for the full 12 months not just the first 6 months so would be 19.99 x 2.
