  • a very easy but effective look is to attach either green or purple balloons all over you and go as a bunch of grapes

we've just had our work xmas do which is fancy dress and this years theme was something that's the first letter of your first name - I got J

ok, as your male you will have to modify this but i had black boots, leggings, skirt, vest top, shrug/bolero and glued (strong glue) jigsaw pieces all over the clothing!

Everyone loved the outfit and the effort put into it and things were really cheap from primark or from charity shop - you could try freecycle for jigsaws

Failing that try freecycle for fancy dress costume - just say male and then size and see what you get??

  • @Jamieegg4590 - It will be tough to get much in terms of a costume for £5 so you will have to be creative. Basing your costume around one accessory is always a good way to go. Robes give you a lot of options, e.g. Monks or jedis. One of my favourites is a Roman, you can create a toga from a sheet, borrow some sandals and then make the leaf alice band and sword for under a fiver. I hope that this helps

@Jenny_f - Great idea with the Jigsaw. I have put together a site that covers fancy dress ideas by letters of the alphabet. Please let me know if you thought of any others I can use on my site.

if like me you like to be less obvious and think outside the box a bit, you could go as a serial (cereal) killer.
get and old t shirt, staple a load of packets of mini cereals to it. stab the boxes with plastic knives, drizzle some red paint around for blood in the middle of mine i got a large cheap box or cornflakes, ripped the middle out, glued the cornflakes spilling out, with loads of blood and a foam axe sticking out. (I put this big box in the middle to represent guts spilling out. it went down rather well!

If you fancy green paint again- the Hulk

I think the green paint is a no no :o))))))))

Angel, a white sheet and a halo made from a wired coat hanger and wrapped with left over tinsel from Christmas, mark my words the women will love it so spend the £5 on "protection"
