Help>>Black Henna where to get it & is it safe?

Is black henna safe? What I mean it is all natural like normal brown henna. I have heard from someone that black henna is made artifically to be black with loads of chemicals. I also heard that you can only get natural black henna with no chemicals from Africa. Where can I buy it with no chemicals???


I would like to use black henna to create eye browns like semi permanent makeup.

Advice please and if you have any useful web-links please post them too.

BAD idea.

Stick with normal henna (Yemeni is best IMO), let it dry slowly in moist air (kitchen with tumble dryer on, perhaps?) and reapply to darken.

AVOID BLACK HENNA.

I thought it was called indigo and has been used for years to colour and strengthen hair???

MAybe not eyebrows as I hear it's dreadfully messy and an eyebrow would be quite fine work...

I wouldn't want reddy brown eyebrows....

Where is the best place to get Henna for this? Can you buy it in Boots or Superdrug?

Black henna often means synthetic dye. The type that results in the TV features showing people with football sized heads and no hair.

there is only one 'colour' of henna, red henna. Any other colours are made with chemicals and are not true henna, nor good for you.
To get a black colour you would use indigo. I have only used this on hair, not eyebrows etc as you want to do, but to get a black colour you mix and apply the henna, then when it is rinsed mix and apply the indigo.
