Selling on endowment policy

We are going to cash in two old endowment policies to pay off debt. We are looking at possibly selling them on to one of the companies who offer to get more than the redemption value offered by our providers. I have my doubts about this. Are they a good idea?

Are they with-profits endowments? If they're unit linked, you won't be able to sell them on.
If they are with-profits, then assuming that you definitely want to sell them then you might as well see if you can get more for them than the insurance company is offering (you might not - some with-profits funds are more attractive to buyers than others).0
