shoes for toddlers

Just been to Clarks for DD feet to be measured and she has grown and needed to move up a 1/2 size, I definitely want her to wear clarks due to probs I won't bore you with, but as these shoes have just cost me £26:eek: , I was wandering if any one knew where I can get clarks or startrite cheaper.

What about factory outlets? There is a fantastic one in Somerset, called Clarks Village, with lots of high street stores offering huge discounts on discontinued items.

There are similar places in the North

  • I get my son's feet measured at Clarks and then look on ebay for Clarks shoes but I only buy new ones. You can search for only NEW items by checking a little box at the side.

I know in the past I've brought shoes from Clarks and my son didn't get around to wearing them so I sold them on eBay.

Just because your daughter has been measured a certain size it does not necessarily mean that will be the size she needs. It will depend on the shape/style/fit of the shoes. The measurement is only a guide and it really is best to have them fitted.

If she has only grown 1/2 a size then does she definately need new shoes? The majority of the time you can get away with waiting until they grow a whole size before you change their shoes. Did the assistant in clarks check her current clarks shoes? She should have been able to tell you if there was any room left in those. If not, then I'd suggest popping back and asking them to check if she has any growing room left in those before you buy any more. :)

Well Quakers I have just had this same conversation with my mum. she has one foot size 5 and one foot size 51/2. She was wearing size 5 and her foot was right at the end of the shoe on her big foot. ( it was as I checked it myself) but am now wandering if I should have got a size 6?

I know the OP has said there have been problems before, but as a Mum of 4 I do my best to avoid Clarks due to the cost and the fact they seem to UNDERmeasure the size (so kids outgrow them too soon). Have found this in the past in more than one store.

I recommend looking for leather shoes elsewhere, I got my youngest DS some great leather school shoes for about £8 in the Mothercare sale. As long as I have ensured they fit well, and have leather uppers, I have had no problems with my children wearing cheaper shoes (my older kids are wearing shoes from New Look and JJB sports, and in the past I have also bought from Supermarkets too).

I have never looked at mothercar's shoes but maybe I should. As long as they are study at the heel and come high up and have a wide fitting maybe I shoulf try therm for size. The physio for DD recommended wide fitting shoes and she also has a hig instep and is flat footed, but on the otherhand I do like mothercare stuff it always seems good quality so I will go and have a look.

    Thanks.

If her biggest foot was measuring a 5.5 and you have been fitted with a 5.5 then the assistant would have allowed for growing room & they should be fine.

If you are worried about the fit then just pop back and ask someone else to check them. You could always ask to speak to a supervisor to have them double checked, just say you have had lots of problems with her feet and would like reassurance that they fit ok.

If you automatically went for the 6 they may be too big. Shoes being too big can be as bad as shoes being too small as children will 'claw' their toes automatically to keep them on if they are very loose.

IO hadn't realised that too big could have issues as well. Sometimes I get hell bent on the making my money stretch too far. I wouldn't put the shoes on her today cos I was contemplating taking them back but if she is in a 5.5 why would I want her to wear a 6?
