filling forms out (default on payments)

help!
I'm filling a form out for a new employer and one of the questions is:

Have you ever defaulted on a loan payment?

What does this mean? if i've missed a payment? if i've made an agreement with my loan company to pay X amount each month?

I don't know how it works.

Check your credit records. If there is a default on there you answer yes, if there isn't you answer no. Simply missing a few payments is not defaulting if a default notice was never issued.
