Can I ask a question about your NVQ immoral-angel? What does the NVQ in Early Years Care and Education qualify you for job-wise? I'm interested because I would love to do something working with children but I'm really not sure what! I'm due to go on maternity leave at Easter and debating whether to go back to my current job or take some time out and retrain for something I would actually enjoy and find rewarding.

Well most employers look for Level 3 or equivalent but there are some nurseries that will take you on with a Level 2 if you're prepared to undertake further training to get to your level 3. I'm doing it slightly different as I started work before having my level 2 and then joined a training agency through work (Kind of like a modern apprenticeship) and have been doing my training on the job. If you approach a training agency to do your NVQ 2 they will be able to find you a placement at a local setting, and more often than not the settings then go on to employ the trainees permenantly..
