I'm a 15 year old boy, and me and my friend made a bulk order of 50 iPod touch 4th generation cases, for about 1.08 pounds each, we need selling tips to get some profit on ebay. We have already listed them, but sold none after our 7 day period, (so we got our listing fee back), we are going to try again, but we need some help, what are we doing wrong exactly?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thankyou

Firstly you need to be 18 to sell on ebay.
Secondly if items didn't sell you do NOT get your listing fees back, it might not be much but there will still be a tiny ebay bill to pay and assuming you did a bulk BIN with no extras it will only be 40p.
Lastly, without knowing some more info, prices, postage charged etc it is very difficult to give you any specific advice. There is an ebay forum on MSE though and you might try asking there once you find someone old enough to have both an ebay and paypal account to help you. And if you also got the bulk buy from eBay, chances are other people are selling exactly the same.
Research what prices all the other cases go for, see if there are any the same and see what they sell for.
The only problem with selling things like phone/mp3 cases is that every Tom, !!!!!!, and Harry are selling them on eBay.
I think your best bet would be to not even sell them on eBay and get a stand at your local market/car boot and sell them there for £2 a pop.James0 -
Have you made sure your listings were searchable? dont just look at the reference code but look at how easy it is to find your advert from key words.0

Screw 18 years old, we made sure everything was on the search, also listing is 20p not 40p, we did get our money back.
Also, the friend i'm selling with is over 18, so i'm pretty sure that's legit!0 -

I can see no way you would have got your listing fee back, sorry, I think you have misunderstood what your billing page says.
I assumed a 40p fee as it would have seemed logical to put the lot in a single multiple BIN as you can sell them all off a single BIN and list for 30 days.
I suspect the reason you couldn't sell was just the price. There are sellers on there that have sold brand new cases for as little as 25p each inckuding postage. There are also more than a dozen sellers who have them on a BIN at 99p again with free postage.
No one is ikely to want to pay more than market price. It sounds like your wholesale price was too high to start with, sorry.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Go do a completed search on ebay, pages and pages of them unsold at 99p including postage.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I am 100% certain we got it back, there is more than one account type on eBay, also the listing fee is 20p, 100% sure, its written on the iPhone app.0 -

There are two types of accounts on ebay, business and private. However if you pay a listing fee and the item does not sell you do not get the fee back. You do however get a relist credit which means if you relist *and* it sells on your second attenpt the second lot of fees are returned. If it doesn't sell on the second attempt then you pay both sets.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/fees.html
If you list an item which does not sell, or if your buyer does not pay, you may qualify for a credit for your insertion fees.

So no, the fee is not returned if item doesn't sell. If it was then there would be a great many more items listed on ebay as listing would effectively be risk free as no sale would equal no fee. As it stands at the moment business selelrs that pay for all insertions have to carefully balance out whether somehting is worthh listing or not.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
