Tips for purchasing a MacBook Pro

I'm looking to buy a MacBook pro just after christmas. Hoping for post xmas reductions but am currently just looking around to get a rough idea what I might be looking at. Not too fussed whether it be the 13" or 15" although 15" would be better.
So far looked on the Apple website at refurbished ones, as well as local stores.
Will have to be done on finance as money is an issue. Any help, tips or loopholes I could be let into. Thank you

Do you know any students in higher education? Apple has a special set of prices for them, and when I was a student 3 years ago I bought my Macbook Pro 15" and got about a third off retail price.

Also search on the Apple forums as from memory they don't tend to have post-Xmas sales but may reduce prices if there is a new chipset or hardware thingy about to come in.:starmod: DO IT NOW :starmod:0

as an above poster says, see if you can get a student you know to buy it (and give it to you as a present, perfectly allowed) as you get 20% off the shop or online price - which are often different so see which one gives you the better deal. But the real advantage of a student buyer is the warranty. You pay massively less (I think about £50) for the 3 year warranty which I strongly suggest you get. My MBP has gone wrong 4x in the first 3 years and all fully covered by warranty.0

On the flip side, in 3 years mine hasn't had any issues at all and still runs better than other new laptops currently on the market
Personally, if you can afford the 15' then go for that one0
