URGENT! Tesco R&R policy - what is it?

So sorry to post here but i have no time! Just been to the tesco express and saw thorntons classic chocs for £2.85. Grabbed 5 and saw that they went through till at £5.18. Went back afterwards and was told that price was for 127 g and not 350 g which is what i bought. Thing is there were no other thorntons chocs on the shelf and no price for the 350 gms. Manager offered me partial refund before I could say anything. He gave me £6.65 back which I now realise means that the chocs still cost me 3.85. I was happy to get the difference back so that they cost £2.85, price I thought I was buying them.

Sending hubby back to see Manager, where do we stand? Shall we just ask for the extra fiver back so that chocs cost £2.85 or are we entitled to them free plus a refund?

tia!!!!!!!!

Depends on whether the shelf edge label with the price on stated the weight of the chocs on offer, if it says the weight of the ones you bought then thats an R+R but if it states the lower weighted ones then it would be hard to argue.

but if as you said they were the only ones on the shelf then just plead ignorance.

    Good Luck
  • You still saved £1.33 per box of chocoates, does this not make it a good buy?

    Happy EId everybody!!!! xxxxx
  • Can you read? I assume so, or you wouldn't be on this forum. The shelf edge signs usually state which packs the offers refer to, so if you've selected the wrong packs then as far as I'm concerned that's your issue, not Tesco's.

Still, if it makes you feel happy that you've got feee chocs at everyone else's expense, good for you.
  • sometimes products are put on the shelf but are not the ones on the sel
take for example the other week. encover biological wash powder 96p.
the ones on the shelf with this sel were non biological. went through at £4.18.
so i bought 5 packs as i didnt read the label properly and got r+r on them due to it was not my fault the label was the wrong one. thanks for the tip i be off to the local ones in the morning

If there was only one size on the shelves you wouldn't be aware that other sizes were available.

If there was only one price on the display you wouldn't be aware that other prices may be charged.

As there was only one size and one price you wouldn't expect to be charged a price that wasn't displayed or that the price you saw was for a product you didn't see.

Having been previously caught out by this, I always check that the size on the price label (for it is printed there) is the same as the pack size on the shelf (as the pack has the size printed on too).

Tricky I know, but it works for me.
