HM Crispy Pancakes

I know they're charva food, but hubby adores Birds Eye Crispy Pancakes.
He's been pondering making them at home and so far we've come up with:
make a normal pancake
add filling, fold in half and seal with beaten egg
coat outside in beaten egg and dip in breadcrumbs
either grill or oven bake
Would this work? Or has anybody got any better suggestions?
They're only 89p in Tesco at the moment, so I said buying them is easier, but he's ever so keen to make his own!

I think you should let your husband have a go at making them,I reckon they should work out fine, maybe better than birds eye ones?
If he does make them can you post a pic of them on here so we can see what they look like? Also what method you used?Debt Free Date:10/09/2007 :j :money:0 -

that sounds like it'll work, but make sure the batter for the pancakes is quite thick, not the time for wafer thin pancakes :rotfl:0 -
I've got a load of these in the freezer, cos they were cheap in Tesco about a month ago. Yeah bf whinges, but give him enough of them and he's okay.
The only alternative I can think of is to make regular pancakes, fill with a mince/spagie bol kind of mix, bung in oven topped with cheese and give him that.
Not quite the same thing, but hey, better than nowt. I probably wouldn't have bought so many if they weren't so cheat at the time, they do for a cheapie meal during the week. There's only so much proper meat we can afford, and he "has" to have "real" meat every night!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

I love savory pancakes, just normal pancakes filled with mince, onion and gravy. i suppose for the crispy part, like you suggested, brush with egg, dip in breadcrumbs and fry/grill.
Guess what we will have for dinner tomorrow now!!!!0 -
Did any of these work out?
