Wescot debt recovery notice

Just recived a debt recovery forwarded to me from old address. Amount is for seventy pounds - not a huge amount i know, but I was in dispute with a mobile operator - i have been billed incorrectly and now they are using wescot.
I got lot of hassle in the rest of my life right now and can't really be bothered having a battle with them and the mobile operator.
Question is should i just pay the 70 pounds or can I leave it as they don't have my new address?
Also its only 70pounds - are they going to pursue me for this smal amount?
Appreciate any advice on this. Thanks

You have to ask yourself some questions, do you feel that you owe this debt, if you have been wronged by this phone company can you argue with them and win.
I have been in a lot of debt in the past and if I could live my life over I would have avoided c/c's etc, if you choose not to pay this debt then it will sit on your credit file for the next 6 years, also consider that they may not have your new address but as soon as you pay your council tax or apply for a loan, c/card or even open a bank account they could possibly find out.
Personally I'd pay it and be dammed sure its £70 but its cheap when you consider the 6 years of being hampered by this potential burden.
All the best

Not sure how feasible it'd be but could you pay wescot now to get them off your back.. and then sue the mobile company through the small claims court??Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
Que sera, sera.

If the amount is in dispute then the account should not have been sent to a debt agency.
Write a letter recorded delivery to the mobile company and send a copy with a covering letter to Westcot and they will send the account back as they do not deal with accounts in dispute.
I think it is worth trying to get this sorted as £70 may not be a huge sum but is quite a lot.
It is likely already that the mobile company have registered a default against you so your credit rating will be not so good for 6 years anyway.

I woulde ask wescot to prove that you owe the debt. If you do pay it, if not be sure that they will drop the issue
Whatever you do dont ignore it, they may not chase YOU for it, but they can put a default on your credit file which will cost you dearly in due course if you were wanting any otrher credt be it a mortgage, car loan, anything at all you could be simply refused. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I recently had a letter from Wescot too, but for me it was for a landline bill that I disputed (I was charged for calls after I moved out of a property). I sent a letter to the original telecoms company disputing the debt and told Wescot by phone, they have frozen the debt while the bill is in dispute. Funnily mine was also for £70-ish.
I say if you dont owe the money fight the barstewards all the way, they rely on people thinking its easier to pay than argue with them.:A:A:A:A:A:A0 -
Many thanks for all the replies. I have decided to pay wescot. I don't have the time or energy for a battle right now...
Thanks again0 -

Thanks again
Have you checked your credit file to see if a default notice has been added. If so then I am sorry to say that your credit file is going to be scuppered for 6 years from the date of the default.
Do you have any correspondence regarding the dispute? If so, and there is a default, then I would advise that you contact the phone company and try to get this matter resolved.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0
