I am just about to update my signature to reflect the fact that after 3 years and 3 months I am debt free! I have cleared £39000 of debt that I admitted to, plus the car fininance of 10k that I didnt admit to.
In that time my OH and I have bought a house with a 25% deposit, OH saved that while I was paying the debts. I have also had a little boy following my IVF.
I have had such a mixture of things happen over this 3 years good and bad, and would never have had the will power to make it on my own.
Anyone reading who is just starting out, its well worth it, I cant believe the feeling of being debt free. Its like a huge weight has been lifted. We even have some money in savings. My advice to any newbies is to stick to the boards like glue, remind yourself that there are lots of people in this situation and there is always a way out.
Ive not been around much the last few months because I wanted to test myself, just to see if I could resist overspending without the boards. Happy to say I havnt overspent, and all my christmas shopping is done under budget.
My plan was to celebrate being debt free with a few new outfits. That wont be happening as I found out that i am pregnant a couple of weeks ago. Anyone who knows my that I had a miscarrage last december so I am being quietly optermistic, we are not telling anyone in real life until january if we can avoid it.
Martin, you should be given a knighthood for all your work and for creating such a wonderful support network. I dont dare to think where I would be now if I never found this site.
I'm not going to name names as I would never forgive myself if I missed someone out, but thank you to all the posters for sharing your stories and ups and downs. Its especially the diaries that made me have my LBM.
Now all I have to do is update my signature, and order a chinese. Oh and decide if I am leaving my emergency money in the freezer...

Hi there
What an inspiration you are I'm a newbie and only had my LBM this year I'm still battling with creditors and making some progress but have no long term plan yet until I can get the short term things sorted I suppose I would love to be in your position and would hope to get there in about 7 to 8 years time but that's guess work and an assumption I don't accrue anymore interest but thanks for sharing and enjoy Christmas and the new baby you deserve it:j0 -
Well done Lunar - thats a brilliant achievement!!At least the fish fingers are still frozen, that's what I keep telling myself (Truly Madly Deeply)0
