11 FREE WII WARE DEMOS AVAILABLE on the Wii Shop Channel. I know they're only demos but still they're playable, fun, enjoyable and free!

You have to connect your Wii to the internet, go on the Wii Shop channel, select 'Wii Ware' followed by 'search by genre' and then select 'demo'.

That should bring up 6 demos for you to download and keep for free!

Games are: BIT. TRIP FATE (v. good game), Chronos Twins DX, Furry Legends, Jett Rocket, ThruSpace and Zombie Panic in Woderland.

Personally, I wouldn't spend any Wii points to buy the games, but like I said there are plenty of hours of fun gaming to be had. Kids will especially love it!

Demos may be removed by Nintendo at any time so grab 'em quick! New games may be added on Monday every week so make sure you check regularly!

Jett Rocket is good fun once you sort out the controls

Thru Space is very clever but slightly monotonous. You twist shapes to get them through gaps in the wall - sort of Tetris in reverse!!

just one thing to bear in mind is some of these take a lot of memory (blocks in Wii speak). You may need a SD card to download all of these, depending on what is already stored (most proper games played leave a small imprint to store highest scores etc.

WiiWare take a lot as the whole game is stored on the hard drive.

How do i get wii points? I have connected to wifi and added my email address. My online nintendo account says i have 1800 stars. Is this something different to wii points??

yes, you get stars from buying nintendo products. wii points is kind of like money but for buying various wii related products. if you go on the uk club nintendo site, you can excahnge stars for points!

for 1800 stars you can buy 400 wii points (300+100) and have 200 stars remaining (i think!). not sure if you can buy any games on the wii shop channel for 400 points. but you can buy 2 guitar hero songs, that i know for sure.

cheapest place to buy wii points is on the wii shop channel - £7 for 1000 points. this is better than all the shops but occasionally, there may be an offer, discount code etc. which may make it a bit cheaper.

jett rocket is also fun. i've yet to try bit trip...might give it a go tonight.

the demos themselves are not very large files. however, i do agree that downloading 6 demos will take up a fair bit of space. downloading (and paying for) the full games will take A LOT of wii memory. there was a similar promo period by nintendo a year or so ago - i noticed that memory space on my wii was fairly low following those demo downloads. so as you mentioned, i bought a 2gb sd card. think it was made by kingston and i bought it for £4ish on amazon. that did the job! i have loads of wii 'blocks' now and can download about 50+ demos.
