Wheelie Bin Liner

Hi,
We used to get our Wheelie Bin Liner from Tesco, we used to get a 'Alina Large' paper sack, we used this to put our food waste and garden waste, I think they were just over £1 each, can't find them any more, only the Medium one and that is a bit small, have done some serahing and have found;-

http://www.healthyplanetbags.co.uk/purchase.htm

They do a 'Garden Waste sack' and a 'Wheelie Bin liner', not that much difference in size (either would do me), the garden saks work out a bit cheaper.

Anyone used them or got cheaper, bur good?

Thanks

Steve

    Hi

You can get an 8 or a 10 pack in Poundland.

Seem a bit pointless though whats the point in putting a bin liner in a wheeleie bin.

Another thing that grinds my gears is people paying to have their wheelie bin cleaned after its emptied by the dust bin men. Whats the point in that, who opens the lid to have a good sniff on the freshness?

The Poundland ones are useless, the only ones I have ever found are any good are the Tesco ones, the specific wheelie bin liners.

The point behind lining the wheelie bin is to avoid having to clean it - I have had no problem with grubs or anything this year, and the stench can be deplorable on the fortnightly collections. You don't have to lift the lid just to smell it, you do have to open it to put rubbish in it though, and ours is stored near the house.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

The ones in poundland aren't paper, I use normal black sacks for house hold rubbish, to go in landfill, but we have a second bin for Food waste and Grass cuttings etc, so I use a paper one for that as its biodegradeble.

I must admit, I did clean my own bin last year, because it Stunk

  • Its often false economy to buy cheap bags as they often spilt and obviously the whole purpose of a bag is to keep the contents free to contaminating other things like the bin. I never see a reason to buy wheelie bin bags for paying to have bin cleaned if you do the thing right at start there is no need for extra bags or paying to have bin cleaned

I wouldn't waste my money on a wheely bin liner. I wrap my landfill before it goes in it, either in supermarket carrier bags, newspaper or whatever is around and isn't wanted for recycling, like magazine wrappers. Every now and then I chuck some diluted bleach in the bin and leave for a few hours, then rinse it out and leave the bin upside down to dry.
I have a small bin for food scraps etc for the garden, I poke at it with a twig when I empty it to get the last bits out and wash it out once a week outside.

I remember as a kid watching my granny wrapping her rubbish in newspaper and tying it up with parcel string before putting it in her metal dustbin.

My Food \ Garden waste wheelie bin is a full sixe one, i did try last year without a bag \ liner and it got really dirty and smelly, took me a while to clean it ou, maybe I will buy the bags and give them a go, still cheaper that what I was paying for them in the supermarket.

  • Are these any good? for the garden/kitchen waste, the more you buy the better cos of postage.

  • Thanks for that , will need to check with council, not to bad price wise as long as you buy quite a few (£3 P&P)
