Tescos - Trading Standards

There are a number of posts complaining about Tescos half price (when you spend over £30) Baileys offer. Tescos are selling 1l of Baileys for £15, but half price is not £7.50 but £9.24. Apparently half price refers to £18.48 that was charged some time ago, but no where on the website does it say this, and on phoning Tescos they won't honour the £7.50 price.
I have just phoned Consumer Direct/Trading Standards (08451 28 13 84) and they say that Tescos are not allowed to do this and will refer it.
If as many other people as possible also report it I suspect it will get 'corrected' that much sooner. I got through straight away without having to hang on.
It really annoys me that Tescos are misleading us like this.
Please anyone else who has been caught like this - do make a phone call.

Didn't say this at all when I placed my order, and this info is still only on the home page not with the offer (if you look at the Baileys, it just says 'Half Price' and the only price mentioned is the £15 one)0 -
I think it depends who answers the phone, as I rang Tesco tonite about my Baileys offer being priced incorrectly, and without hessitation was refunded the £1.74 difference.
:T
Although he did say it was a goodwill gesture :rotfl:
I was all ready to say send your driver back to collect it, or if that isn't possible I could return it to the store for a £3.00 delivery charge.....
But it never came to that :money:0 -

Tesco website clearlly says half price therefore £7.50
Spend £30 & Get 1 litre Baileys for Half Price valid from 22/11/2010 until 28/11/2010
Baileys Original Irish Cream Liqueur 1 Litre
£15.00 half £ 7.50
Where is tesco they make up thier rules as they go along, trading standards need to look closer at thier terms and conditions.0 -
This is more a dumb mistake by the site editors rather than an end to cynical "we charged that at one branch in outer mongolia six months ago" inflated offers. It is only being honoured because they have quoted the price of £15. I am sure they will just remove this and in future be able to continue to offer 'half'-price offers at half a never-widely-charged recommended retail price.
How many people do you know would pay £2 for a tub of Pringles? Has the tomato harvest not recovered yet? Do branded tins really still cost £1 per tin to produce?0 -
I first contacted Tescos by phone to request a refund on this overcharge and they refused. However, later in the day I emailed them and this morning they phoned to applogise, said it was a mistake online, and refunded the difference !!!!0

There's nothing tesco stores can do about it, only tesco direct, was it those who called you? Also, shouldn't you be getting double the difference? or doesn't that count online?0

It was an online order, and that was who I phoned. Was just glad to get the Baileys at the 'correct' price. Haven't heard of 'double the difference' online.0 -
Tesco's have just delivered my order and Charged me £9.24 BUT It appears that they have now changed the wording.

Spend £30 & Get 1L Baileys for Half Price - Was £18.48 then £15 now Half Price at £9.24 on delivery. valid from 22/11/2010
Should be illegal and to add insult to injury they've left the security tag on so I can't even drink the damm stuff:mad:0 -
i telephoned tesco at 6 and got the difference in price back.If you look at your receipt( the sheet you get with your online order) and it says the baileys is £15 then they have to give you the difference.Doesnt matter if it has now been "changed" online, it is what you were charged.0
