Christmas for two?
Sounds fab too me!
Now i this sounds silly, as i do this with my partner and two children.
Not sure if its your thing, but thoguht i would p[ost it up anyway.
Just over the holiday period, how about making some christmas things.- Maybe go a for a wander and pick some pinecones etc to make a kind of christmassy table decoration. So as to be your first xmas thing together
- Go to poundland and get a make your own crackers pack. Think you get enough stuff to make six of them, and best of all you get to pick the things that going inside them! Make them say Christmas Eve, and hang them on the tree.
- One year i made a veggie meat loaf, it was very yummy and tasted amazing cold.So perfect for sandwiches
- So christmas day, have lie in.breakfast in bed etc
- dinner wise switch lights off and have it by candle light with some musoc in the back gound.
- tyne mouth priory is lovely for a peaceful walk on the beach, cold too! Or your local park, always a good spot for us.
- go to pub, have a pint or four, pubs are normally pretty friendly at this time of year. So should be nice to go in.
- back home, watch film and chill
- christmas day done and dusted!
Heron sell a pack of 24 vegetarian mini cheese cakes for a £1.
So could maybe have some of these with a glass of wine, hot chocalte etc
Oh and boxing day, theres always something going on. Near me a charity event happens where nutters jump in the north sea:eek:. Crazy, fun, great atmosphere0 -
A relevant update (!) - Quorn Roast down from £3.29 to £2 until 14th December at Sainsburys! It's cooked from frozen anyway so never too early to buy.
It is like the Quorn fairy is looking down on us.0 -
Not sure of your budget for Christmas dinner but M&S have their 2 dine for £10 offer on this weekend and the menu is over on the food and shopping board (sorry I am rubbish at links). The veggie main is Brazil Nut, Date & Cranberry Roast with Mulled Fruit Topping (V) and veggie side dishes along with desserts that will freeze and a bottle of wine or soft drinks, might be worth a look?
Also I am in the middle of clearing my attic out so if you need any baubles for your tree give me a PM and I will gladly send (as long as you don't mind red!!)
Regarding activities I think most have been covered but I would echo finding either a service or gathering on Christmas eve when most people are 'getting in the spirit' and OH would get an idea of a British Christmas (but don't stay out too late!!!!)

We have a few presents. Watch TV. Have a nice day. Have a nice tea later on. Its not miserable at all. Why is it miserable. I would be more miserable if i didnt have any at all to spend it with?:footie:0

Guys you have all been amazing in helping me out here with ideas! :-D
Thank you so much for the updates about the cheap Quorn Roasts, M&S dine in deal, ideas of things to do, places to go for walks, especially finding out about the People's Kitchen i'm going to apply to volunteer there - even if i can't do it over Christmas if they don't need me I will hopefully help in the future.
Thanks so much for the offer of the baubles but we have just come back from Tesco and got a tree with lights and decorations already in the box, for a grand total of £5 as we used our double up clubcard points and got a £20 with that :-D. You guys are so kind! :-)
Going to put it up next week and we are inviting friends round to have mince pies and non-alcoholic mulled wine early December - as a very cheap get together. Mince pies were £1.50 for three boxes on the tesco bog2f, and the mulled wine was from IKEA for a small amount - going to add in orange juice to make it stretch further.
I am toying with the idea of Christmas eve at church as i love the atmosphere and carols. Will try to pursuade OH. Going to make a list of the activities you've suggested and work out what we want to do before the day.
Feeling much more excited about Christmas now and the places we could go for a walk in the afternoon. We've had some snow here tonight so it's been a very Christmassy day already!!!Professional Photographer with a love of bargain hunting.. Been a moneysavingexpert since 2006 :-D

Some fantastic replies! We've spent a couple of Christmases just the two of us - they were lovely.
Couple of additional suggestions: Bucks Fizz for breakfast (orange juice and bubbly - you can get a bottle of Cava for around £4 at the moment), and get something special to go with it to eat.
Invest in some Xmas music Cd's and films (if you're short of money, why not add them to your Christmas present list ??)
As for dinner - there are a couple of veggie food magazines out at the moment with some lovely ideas. A non-meat roast, and you can still have all the usual trimmings - roast potatoes, veggies, cranberry sauce, bread sauce, gravy, even quorn sausages, plus Xmas pudding made with vegetarian suet (lots of major retailers make them like this now).
I've had the M&S Veggie roast (that comes with the Dine in for £10). It was lovely - though small portions (you may need two ?)
Enjoy !!0 -
I do hope you go to a Church service.
However,
Just a thought, since one of you is from a different culture - buy some tickets for a Pantomime for soon after Christmas - some local ones on a small scale are hilarious and needn't cost a bomb, or you could go for the glitzy big productions.0 -
Oh my god you are soooo lucky - xmas for 2 sounds amazing to me.
Compare it to the chaos of Xmas with 15 and count your blessings.
Have a lie in. Enjoy a lovely breakfast together. Open pressies. Have a lovely long soak in the bath and pamper yourselves before getting dressed up and going for a lovely walk. Phone family and friends and wish them a lovely xmas. Spend time making a nice lunch, veg out and watch whatever you like on tv. Play some fun games like monopoly. Just relax and enjoy the peace and think of all those poor people stuck with relatives who get on their nerves wishing the day away.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Lots of good ideas already! I would have a delicious continental breakfast with croissonts and danish and then open pressies in front of the fire. Maybe go out for a nice walk. Then I would treat myself to a nice long luxurious bath with some champagne and chocolates and a good magazine. Then snuggle up in front of the fire watching movies before eating my favourite meal. Keeping a wee pressie or two to exchange after dinner would also be nice. This gives you a great chance to create your own xmas traditions that are special to you both as a couple.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

We like to do one main pressie each and one or two little extras - sexy underwear always goes down well, and will give you something to do later in the day!
:kisses2:
We have a friend who is alone at Christmas as his family also live in another country, so there is usually just the 3 of us unless we are out of the country visiting family, or when family visit us. There have been other friends spending Christmas with us too which is always nice and casual with none of the stress that family tends to bring.
A walk after dinner is good as we normally eat far too much, followed by a movie and chocolates. Perhaps when you are chatting to people at work/friends etc you can ask what they are doing for Christmas, and if anyone sounds like they will be alone or wanting to be elsewhere, then you can invite them along, either for the main meal or for a drink/movie later in the evening.
Something I try to do is have a 'just in case' present wrapped up with no tag on it, something universal like a box of chocolates, because it is amazing how often it comes in handy. Plus, if it doesn't get used I can open it in the new year and eat them myself!:D :TTrust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0
