Nationwide & Credit Ratings for Multiple Applications

HELP! We've applied for a Nationwide mortgage and were given a yes in a Decision in Principal 3 weeks ago, and promised our written mortgage offer within 2 days of that. 3 weeks later and a ridiculous amount of telephoning and empty promises, and untruths and we still don't have a written mortgage offer. We are about to loose our house!!
We have given them a deadline of tomorrow, but......... if we don't get the office - can we apply for another mortgage, will it affect our credit rating? Note our credit rating is pretty good now.
Please help urgently!

Unlikely as the NW would need a formal valuation of the property carried out, before making a formal written offer. Let alone passing underwriters if deemed necessary. So 2 days is totally unrealistic.
A DIP is only based on your application form nothing else.
Is you credit history imperfect?Note our credit rating is pretty good now0 -
Sorry, my post wasn't clear. We got the DIP after the valuation had been carried out and was told it was fine and acceptable - that was 3 weeks ago. We understand that Nationwide has system problems at the moment - but seems bizarre that they can't issue any mortgage offers!?
Our credit history is absolutely perfect, so concerned applying somewhere else for a mortgage may damage it?0
