Hi there
I am just posting quickly to see if anyone out their has resized a ring at all before and how easy it is?
I know certain rings are not easily resized due to their style and also diamonds can loosen etc. but am just wondering if you guys have had any experience with this?

I had to have mine reduced by two and a half sizes recently due to weight loss - I was rather apprehensive but needn't have worried as you'd never know now looking at it. I didn't like being without it for the few days they were working on it but at least it's safe now as I nearly lost it when shopping one day when it fell completely off0

Thanks
I am looking to have a ring made maybe a couple of sizes bigger? The ring I want to buy is only available in a size J (Which is pretty small).
My girl does actually have really small fingers and I think she probably could actually squeeze into it, but if not wondering if anyone has experience of it being a problem? It doesn't have any side stones or anything it's just a main cluster at the top...
Also how long does it take on average? Was 3 days just the norm for you or could you have got it quicker?0 -
The speed would depend on whether the jewellers has a workshop in house, or if they'll be sending the ring somewhere else to be resized.much work to be done - new sig coming soon...0

My h2b had mine resized before he proposed, i thought it was really sweet that he went to that effort.
It does unfortunately mean i have no idea how long it took - sorry. One point to note though is that you can only have it resized once, and also, you don't want it too tight. When you put on a wedding ring it'll make your finger puff out slgihtly the other side, so your engagement ring needs to be able to take your finger growing a wee bit.saving up another deposit as we've lost all our equity.
We're 29% of the way there...0 -
Arghh ok.... do you guys think I should just buy a different ring I like and then I don't need to worry about it not fitting?0

I got one of mine resized last year it cost me £35 and I had it made 2 sizes bigger took about a week but you can hardly tell. I had it done in a jewlers in Manchester

I had mine resized after H2B proposed. It was free (from the jeweler that it was made by) and took less than a week IIRC0

Maybe ask at the place you intend to buy it what they think? They will know best if the ring can take being resized that much and how long it would take.

I had mine resized, after H2B took the measurement for the wrong finger...
It was free from the same shop where he got it, but it did take about 2 weeks (which felt like forever!) Wish I'd paid for it now in a local (proper) jewellers now as they can do it then and there for you.
As for the ring - you wouldn't even notice it had been done and the stone seems fine!0 -
When you resize a ring, it is essential to make sure that the stone has been tightened, as resizing can often move the setting slightly.
It’s also worth checking (particularly if your ring is made from platinum) if the workshop resizes with a laser or not. Using a laser to resize a ring is far superior to cutting it, as it leaves no marks and leaves a strong, pure join. If a platinum ring is cut, it will often be joined back together with solder as platinum has such a high melting point, not only does these mean you now have solder in your otherwise perfect platinum ring, but it can also wear down to a groove over time..0
