This is something that everyone probably hopes for but it HAS happened to me I have had a letter from my loan company telling me that my loan of £10,000 has been paid and a early resettlement has been paid back to me but!!!! i have not paid the load off and know of no one that would have paid it off for me the direct debit has been stopped as well, how do i stand on this i dont want to be honest but will keep the payments available until the loan company admits to the mistake advise please!!!! The easiest thing to do would contact them to see what is going on.
It is obviously a mistake but the person who has paid off their loan won't just let it lie will they?
You might get a reward for your honesty.0 -

Why don't you want to be honest? You owe money to the company.0 -
I know it doesn't seem like it sometimes but honesty is ALWAYS the best policy. Irrespective of maybe getting a reward you know its right don't you. And just think. There's the smallest chance that it is NOT a mistake so if you contact them and be up front about it and it turns out it IS really your good fortune in some way you can sit back and enjoy instead of having that niggle at the back of your mind about it coming back to haunt you. If its NOT your money you can rest easy that you did the right thing. Remember Karma. :T0

Apart from any belief you may have about Karma, this is obviously worrying you. The chances of the company NEVER noticing that they've made a mistake are miniscule, and in the mean time they could come back to you at any time - and you know the interest will be mounting up!
I would contact them but stress that their mistake (assuming that it IS a mistake and you don't have a fairy godmother) has cost you stress, time and expense, and see what you can get out of them.

Finally if you still choose to ignore all the advice and see what happens ( and why not
) then make sure you do put aside the money from the payments each month and leave it untouched, because if they do pick it up they won't be too happy if you can't pay all the payments you missed in one go. 0
