Customer Care/Customer Relations Roles

Not really sure if this is the right place but I am in my early 20s and never really had an idea of what i wanted to do with my future. I have worked in retail and various companies as an admin assistant.

I have now realised i quite enjoy helping people out but i also enjoy being fairly office based so i think working in customer care/relations or perhaps a HR role would suit me quite well.

I haven't a clue where to start! Do i need a degree for this sort of thing? Does anyone have any ideas of where i can start or have any experience?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Minnie! How about working as a receptionist or on a customer service desk, eg at an airport or tourist attraction? Just an idea, as you already have office experience and retail experience and you'd be able to work at a desk, but helping members of the public.

For HR you will generally need a degree and/ or related training. Everyone has to start somewhere though, so keep a look out for trainee positions, positions which offer ongoing support through education etc. You can also get into HR through the in house recruitment route - look for resourcer positions :)

In regards to customer service - no qualifications, training, or experience needed in most cases. If you're thick skinned then go for it. Customer service jobs are two a penny :D
