Flasks

Hi All
I've just managed to get some work on an outdoor market for 6 weeks:T. I need to keep my costs as low as possible. I can walk to and from the job but as it's a 12 hour day I need to sort out my food and drink (way too expensive to buy from the shops around there:(). As it's outside I want to take a flask of coffee and a flask of stew/chilli etc. I've bought cheap flasks in the past but they don't seem to keep things hot for long. Anyone out there got any ideas what are the best ones to buy.
Thanks for reading this .

  • We have a big Thermos flask which keeps hot water very hot for hours - we drink our tea/coffee black so just bring hot water along and the teabags/coffee to save bringing two flasks! I'd recommend spending the little extra to get the Thermos brand as it really does the job for us. I bought my girls cheaper stainless steel flasks from Tesco and although they do keep their hot chocolate warm, it's not for as long.

  • We have a stainless steel flask and it keeps everything piping hot for about 10 hours. I think the secret is to pour boiling water into the flask and leave it for 10mins to warm it up before you put in your coffee etc. DH kept dropping the thermos flasks which is why we went onto the stainless steel!
  • we use a stainless steel one aswell, i am not sure what brand i think its probably hi-gear, its very good we mainly use it for ice for picnics which works well

    Hi snapang,

As your thread has dropped down the Old Style board I've moved it over to the I Wanna board to see if you can get some recommendations.

This older thread may give you an idea of what to look for:

what should i look for in a flask?

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.
  • I got mine from starbucks :) it's great. I take my coffee to work everyday with me and it stays warm for ages.
  • Many thanks for your replies guys:T. I followed your advice and it's worked - I really have saved a lot of money. I'm actually having NSDs now when I'm working :). I got 2 Thermos flasks from TKMaxx at almost half price and they keep the soup and coffee warm from 8am till about 5 pm.
