What is suggested as an alternative Christmas stocking?

I think it is a decorated Wellington Boot.Any other views?

How about, "a pair of old white jeans or trousers", from the text? As they ask for, "What is suggested as an alternative Christmas stocking?" and not an alternative 'to' a christmas stocking - if you see what I mean?

I'm going with the boots as the picture shows decorated boots being used to hold gifts!

i kmnow its a bit late but the answer is deff weeownes answer in the op, the jeans suggested in post two are used to decorate the boot and not instead of a stocking, which you see if you read the whole text
