It all takes time. I never earned more than 30k as an employed broker!
When I went self employed it went like this
Year 1 12k
Year 2 25k
Year 3 55k Was on target for 85k just before NR went under! (2007)
I think 100k is possible in and around good areas and it would be very hard work without admin support. At the mo I am not so sure, things are tough if you have not been about for long."Banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies." Thomas Jefferson

Price of the business with the shop thrown in - £300,000 - bargain I say.0

hi there, i have recently qualified as a mortgage advisor but in the past month i have constantly be told that i am not suitable for any roles as i have no experience,
i have just been given the opportunity to go self employed at a brokers selling mortgage protection insurance this career had never crossed my mind but speaking with people this seems to be a profitable career if you are willing to be the work hard? Not sure if the guy was a good salesmen himself and actually sold the job to me very well?
Can anyone shed some light on this job as a career with any good or bad points?
Thank you0 -

What training are you going to be given?
Will you be able to offer products from whole of market or a panel?
What commission split are you being offered?
What happens in the event of the inevitable clawback?
Do you know how long it can take to get some applications through!
If you have recently qualified as a mortgage adviser and you are happy to work on a self employed basis then why not see if you can attach yourself to an independent whole of market broker, gain the experience you need and from this point of view you would be able to do both mortgages and mortgage protection and general insurance.
In the current market I would not want all my eggs in one basket.I am a Mortgage Adviser
