    Todays comp closed at 5pm

Sorry, I missed the first clue

Clue 2: A single, this track reached the dizzy heights of number 37 in the UK charts, once the band had flicked the switch, that is.
Clue 3: Despite not being one of this Aussie bands biggest hits, today's track is certainly more than just rented weaponry amongst their arsenal

Answer: AC/DC - Guns For Hire (source scroll down) from album Flick of the Switch

Darren Reddick will play the song at 5pm so I'm assuming the contest closes before then.
Will update with clue 3 when announced, if you want to wait for verification.
  • bumping for update
Darren Reddick just announced that all will be revealed at 5pm
  • Darren Reddick confirmed that todays song was AC/DC - Guns For Hire and said the comp for today was now closed.

Have PM'd Rock Chick Bird to amend title to say closes 5pm each day

Clue1: The singer of this song proclaims: ‘sometimes I sleep, sometimes it’s not for days’. Nick Stone can sympathise with this.

Clue2: From their album ‘Slippery When Wet’, I doubt the band who wrote this track have ever been held to ransom. Especially with hair that perfect.

Clue3: A massive worldwide hit in 1987, this track was written by a bunch of ‘cowboys’, but helped propel them to playing venues much bigger than your average saloon…

Clue1: A 90s hit for a set of Boston rockers, today’s track is supposedly about existing close to the periphery…

Clue2: Released in 1993, the authors of this song finally ‘got a grip’ on the UK charts for the first time that decade, ‘residing on the border’ of the Top 20.

Clue3: The first single from the ‘Get A Grip’ album, messrs Tyler and Perry won the 1993 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance By A Duo or Group for this effort.

Clue1: One half of the title of this track refers to an item that features heavily in my new book Zero Hour. The other half doesn’t feature. At all.

Clue2: A massive hit in 1973, I reckon this lot rely more on GPS these days for their long distance relationships.

Clue3: This Netherlands band would’ve needed more than Dutch courage to cut it alongside Nick Stone in Zero Hour. Particularly with those shiny lobe adornments…

Clue1: Released at the end of the 80s, today’s track ‘shot’ to number one on the US rock chart, but failed to cause ‘double trouble’ by repeating the feat in the UK.

Clue2: Today’s track features a guitarist who ‘fired’ himself to international fame after helping out a certain Mr. Bowie on his 1983 hit album ‘Let’s Dance’.

Clue3: Taken from the 1989 album ‘In Step’, today’s military themed Zero Hour track is from a virtuoso blues guitarist renowned for showering his fans with a bombardment of notes during live solos…

Answer: Stevie Ray Vaughan - Crossfire
