thanks for adding me. everyone seems to be doing totals each month so i had a sit down with my calculator and worked out how much i need to pay off each month to clear 100% by Dec 2011

my debt stands at £12902.04 as of today so to pay off all that by end of Dec 2011 leaves 13 paydays

    100%/13 = 7.69% a month = £992.46
    that's a lot each month

now because i am really sad i have worked out that 1% = £129.06 so if i can reach that 7 times over in a month that doesn't sound quite so bad (maybe)

starnac, you're very right, when you try and think of different ways to say the same thing/ achieve the same goal they often appear 'easier' or more manageable.

  • I think you are more likely to succeed if you break everything down into smaller chunks - even daily amounts as the higher the number, the more you think it's unobtainable and that will generally make you feel down and then not get there. I just think even if I pay 1p extra per month that's 1p less than before (obviously aiming for much much more).

I would love to pay off 100% of my debt by December 31st 2011 - it currently stands at £6600  but i think a challenge like this will give me the kick up the bum that I need to pay off my debts quickly.

So I will have 14 pay days left (I get paid every 4 weeks so I have 13 in a year). After bills I have £517 left, and to pay off my debt I need to pay £471, so I make it that I need to pay 91% of my spare money to be debt free by then._pale__pale__pale__pale_.

It will be tough - but I am willing to give it my very best shot.
