Asda selfscan misprice policy?

Hey ho
I was just pondering what the policy on mispriced items in asda that are put through the self scan.
I had two today, a kandoo hand wash (went through at 98p should have been 49p) and a baby blanket (went through at 50p should have been 25p)
Went to CS and was told that because I went through selfscan, the misprice is my fault and not theirs  and they don't do the gift card thingy because of it.
I ended up getting a refund of 74p.
Gonna ring up and complain, but just want to get my facts right first.
Was CS lying to me?
Cheers ears

sounds like you are being fobbed off there. How can it be your own fault when all you did is use the system ASDA have set up. It's not like you have purposely entered the wrong price, all you have done is scan an item in exactly the same way as a member of their staff would have done if you had gone through a normal check out.0

Asda will just say anything to put you off the scent of a giftcard. They are pathetic, really. INSIST on one next time, if still not forthcoming, ask for the manager. Maybe if enough people get the manager out of his/her cushy office and down to the CS desk to face yet another £2 giftcard argument, he/she will start telling the staff to actually follow company policy for a change...I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0
