I can appreciate for long time posters that it case get a bit frustrating when people maybe go off topic slightly or bring up a subject that has been talked about endlessly, but people like myself who haven't been on this board for years havent dicussed these things endlessly its perhaps the only place they can be open and vent their feelings... and while there are probably old posts on the subject (long time posters sometimes jump on people for not searching to see if a subject has been covered) people may want a fresh perspective on something based on the current situation.
Anyway, from now on, I'll try to keep on topic at least in this thread.0 -
Just guessing here but i would assume that they mean that the thread has been put as a sticky simply to inform people of the new guidelines and to discuss how exactly they will apply rather than a discussion regarding the rights and wrongs of itHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

I started this thread, and I have 'seen' nothing that worries me - but 1 post and 2 'thanks' of 3 posters I greatly respect say otherwise - am I missing something?

Well I think from reading between the lines I may know where you are coming from..........However this is a genuine thank you for posting the original post {my situation, I am between a rock and a very hard place but hopefully the rights of my two girls may win out depending on how I am assessed} which is another ball game completely however perhaps better, especially in the light of some of the latest research on social policy. I think Alistair q may have raised in an earlier post, it makes very interesting reading especially where kiddies are concerned and so so on the ball {not just for lone parents either} I can't post links but may well start a thread with how it relates to BR....Children should not be marginalised by the circumstances of their parents. Anyway back to the original post there may well be an agitator lurking.......but in my mind all the posts stand and to me have been very helpful..................Hope I have made sense it is way past my bedtime night night MC
Just re read your post and I am off track in thinking about a troll - I now think I know where you are coming from all above stands apart from agitator bit - I am paranoid it is so time for bed night nightxxDeep doubts, deep wisdom, small doubts, little wisdom..............0 -
Its all too cryptic for me. If there is a problem I just wish people would say what it is because I have no idea!
I will continue to read the thread but will not post any more as I have not got a clue whats going on now.0 -

I wouldn't worry about it it.
I can see where Andrea is coming from, but it seems very much a precautionary/pre-emptive statement rather than saying that anyone has done something wrong. Especially since this is a sticky for the time being.
I can't see that they have, and I hope people don't take it that way.
As long as the discussion stays on topic, doesn’t veer onto DT topics like the morality of bankruptcy/IPAs etc, remains polite and stays in a constructive mode that will help people faced with these changes then I can't see a problem.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Debt Doctor (and anyone else with contacts in the IS) out of curiosity, have you heard anymore from your friend at the IS on how the new rules are going down, I know its only been a week, but I'm curious as to how the new rules are being applied i.e are the OR's being more flexible in terms of people SOA/budgets now that the new rules don't allow any excess, etc? Have there been any complaints from new BR's (who were perhaps told if they got an IPA it would only be 50-70%) or older BR's being reassessed as part of the early discharge process?0

Ok in the spirit of remaining on topic, and how it will affect people. £20 per month is £240 per year. So if your washing machine breaks a new one is what £200. So if your washing machine breaks after year you should be able to afford a new one. If you fridge freezer and washing machine goes your options are to buy a second hand one, which is more likely to go wrong itself.
Of course if it happens in less than year its back to the OR. I wonder how they will cope with this increased contact given that they'll still have the same (or less) resources.
On the positive side a lot of the allowances are quite generous and could make people better off than before they went bankrupt, particularly as they may have been struggling for sometime. If for example you haven't bought clothes for years then I believe you should still put something down under that expense - its what you need to live on not what you've actually been doing when you were robbinh Peter to pay Paul.Mixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0 -
Hello All,
I having been trying to work my way through an expenditure sheet based upon what my current outgoings are based upon my new wage I will be getting in January.
However when doing this I would have an amount over £20.00 for them to attach a IPA - however Im currently living in shared accomodation and into the new year I want to move out - this will then in turn increase my expenditure of outgoings etc - what would happen to the IPA then should I have no more surpless left over?
Any advice..
Thanks,x0 -
