Moonbeever

Why oh Why do they do this? We have just had an IPA given to us, and it starts on 1 December. Moonbeever have written to us saying they want a cheque every month and to use the pay slips enclosed!

We are Bankrupt!!! We aren't allowed a cheque book!!!! Grrr.

My hubby had a nil tax IPA.

Our letter from Moonbeever stated we could pay by cheque OR standing order, so we just set up a SO, really easy to do!

You see, for that amount, I would have had to have sent a cheque (borrowed from my Mum).!
  • ok, being really thick here, but what is moon beever and nil tax IPA? I was BR on 8th Nov, don't know yet if I will have IPA, and have had no info about tax or anything.

Tup, Moonbeever are the legal company that collect IPA payments on behalf of the OR. There are 2 types of IPA really, one based on your Tax. If you are working and paying tax you should get a nil tax code for your BR-tax year so in your case only until April 2011 (end of this fiscal year). You will be paid gross in this case and the TAX part you pay over to Moonbeever. It doesn't always happen though; the OR may not apply to HMRC for a nil tax code (cos he can eventually get it from them anyway) or may apply but your tax is too low to be bothered about collecting.

The other IPA is the one based on your income/outgoings surplus. This is also collected by Moonbeever and lasts for 36 months - it is variable and can change over the period of time.
  • OP I got the same letter - as I understand it, thats just a bog standard request from moonbeever, as they don't just collect on bankruptcy cases, they are also collection agents for other companies, not just the OR and insolvency service.

The last page of your stuff from moonbeever should have a form to complete and send to your bank to set up a standing order - thats what I did, just went into Barclays and set up the standing order for my IPA/NT IPA.
  • ahh I see...I think
