Quick yeast question

Hello folks,

I'm plannning on making some bread this afternoon and the recipe says to use 2 packets active dry yeast, the problem is I've only got a tin of yeast and I'm not sure how much 2 packets is, can anyone help?

Thank you.

I'm not entirely sure tbh - one sachet of fast-acting dried yeast is usually about 7g - about a teaspoon, at a guess? So, two sachets - two teaspoons of tinned? Hopefully someone else will be able to tell you for sure...

Good luck! I just took a loaf of sourdough out of the oven - is cooling on the rack now, can't wait to try it!

The stuff in tins isn't the same as the easy-blend stuff in the sachets. You need to rehydrate it first in warm water till it is frothy ;)

Thank you all, I managed to rehydrate it ok, it was a sunflower bread recipe I used and it is gorgeous, there's just so much waiting about when making bread, it puts me off a bit, I didn't have quite enough seeds so I threw in some pumpkin ones too, and it's gone down a storm with DH!.

Adding some lemon juice when activating the yeast helps
