define first time buyer

ok as I am aware that mse is full of sarcastic posters I am seeking out the helpful ones...

can anyone define first time buyer - I have had a mortgage in the past and do not have financial ties or association to anyone...my mortgage does not show on my credit file as it was settled...

please help define this for me?

  • For stamp duty you don't count as a first time buyer. First time buyer mortgage deals may be available to you though as you currently don't have a mortgage. I think lenders vary on this point. I don't know if the current FTB deals on offer are any better than those available to non FTBs.

    Lender's do vary, some apparently have a 3 year rule over not being on a mortgage others are simply never ever.
