Which vegetables don't need to be refrigerated?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but it seemed better than most lol... Basically, I'm doing a big shop and I'm worried about fridge space so I'm wondering which vegetables don't suffer from being kept out of the fridge?

I don't think any vegetables NEED to be refrigerated but most will suffer if kept in a warm kitchen. Have you got an outside shed or somewhere cooler to keep them?Piglet

i'm not sure any need to, as none are in the supermarkets ( unless there prepared ones). but they do need to be kept cool.
i keep all ours in fridge , i prefer this way. but having said that i am planning on buying a new tall fridge, as were a family of 5, and i can only store enough veg in ours for a week.0 -
Yeah, I do have an outside shed which I've just recently emptied. I hadn't even thought of that for some reason
thanks
My kitchen isn't too warm - ever lol - so I think I should be able to keep things like cabbage etc. out of the fridge without it going bad too quickly. I'm guessing less hardy veg - courgettes etc. - should be kept in the fridge if I'm planning on keeping them for more than just a few days?0 -
When I lived in a flat with a warm kitchen, I found courgettes went over really really quickly.
I'd try to keep any bulk stock in your shed and just bring in what you need for a couple of days at a time and see how you get on?Piglet

I left brocolli and cauli in a carrier bag by my (freezing) back door... within 2 days the brocolli was turning a weird reddish colour  but the cauli was fine.
I prefer to keep all veggies except potatoes, in the fridge but when I run out of space in winter it all goes in the shed
It could even just go outside if you have a plastic storage bin so nothing cat get at it, I should imagine.Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

Our kitchen is quite cool and I keep root veg in fabric bags hung up while the fruit and veg that spoils fast like tomatos, cucumber and marrow for example are all kept in the fridge. I do take all root veg out of plastic bags though as it does not sweat thenDebt Free...yay! 10/09/2013 :j
