Assuming you are a bloke. I've in the past tried both types (Philips, Braun & Remington). A lot depends on your face and the thickness of your growth. Ultimately I reached the conclusion that I wasn't getting a good shave with either type and resorted to wet shaves. Other men will swear blind that electric/battery razors are the bee knees with the added benefit that you don't cut yourself.

I've just bought DH a Philips Senso Touch RQ1250 - he always wet shaves and has never found an electric razor he likes. This one is wet and dry, he's had a go of it and says it's pretty good! Unfortunately I can't vouch for it's long term effectiveness as he's packed it away and said he will wait till Christmas!

I should have said that using electric razors gave me really bad dry skin and I found it difficult to get into a routine of using creams, lotions etc. I don't have that problem with wet shaving as I use the blades that have the moisturising strip.
