I'm sure there is something that can be done, and this is the right place, the people on here are amazing!
Tell us some of the things you have arranged and planned so we can think of alternatives or ideas etc..
Don't panic!

Caterer, deposit paid, total could be less because of number of guests. What price are you looking at now?
Cake,friend making,reduced price. How much?
Flowers, deposit paid. How much is the remainder?
Disco,deposit paid. Same as above.
Photographer £200 to be paid on day. This isn't too bad actually.
Bouncy Castle, reduced rate as its via a friend.Deposit paid How much is the balance? Do you really need this or could you do without it?
Dress, bought off ebay, alterations and bolero being done by dressmaker, roughly £100 to pay. Well, the dress is needed, so this has to stay.
Suit hire, for oh,best man and my dad...nothing arranged or paid for. Cheaper to buy suits from Matalan, or Asda/Tesco etc.
Car hire,£100 to pay. Would it be cheaper for a taxi, or do you know someone who can tart their car up for you??
Registry office fee's. These have got to be paid, so this is the number 1 thing, even over a dress!
Bridesmaid dresses,bought and paid for.
Drinks for wedding breakfast,Bucks Fizz,Wine and Sparkling wine or something similar? YOu don't have to supply these if you can't afford them.
Wedding rings, haven't bought anything yet. These can be bought fairly cheaply, maybe do that then upgrade them sometime in the future?
Sweets for sweet buffet, jars collecting old ones,so no outlay, just need to get bags. Do you need this sweet buffet? If you're having trouble with costs, this really should go.
Invites, save the date, favours, post box, I am making myself. You don't need favours or a post box or even save the dates. Invites you could buy from Clintons or somewhere like that to keep the costs down.
Other things to think of is hair on day of wedding, make up I am doing myself, other decorations for table's,got bowls already and artificial flowers, just need to buy submersible lights and water beads, mirrors, table crystals.
Gifts for best man,2 bridesmaids and my dad, mum, mil and cakemaker getting bouquet of flowers, included in flowers price. Gifts aren't necessary either, we didn't give our wedding party any gifts.
Think thats most of it?

Look at this things you NEED and look at the things you don't need.
The reg office fees are the most important.
Next is the wedding parties clothing.
Then rings.
There's the ceremony sorted which is the most important bit, so anything else just try to cut down on, or go without xTank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

It depends whether you want to get married next year and go without some things, or whether you want to hold off and wait longer and have all the little bits you want.
If your OH wants to get married next year, can you not cut costs with that lot so you can make it happen?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I am happy to put it off for a year,he isn't...so don't really have a choice, things are going to HAVE to be changed if he wants this wedding to go ahead!Think I need to sit him down and lay it out on the table for him(so to speak;)).

Could you reduce the cost of your catering by changing the menu? Dropping the starter and maybe using the cake as dessert?
Look out for offers in supermarkets for Wine, I got £250 wine earlier this year for a party for £98 when Sainsbugs did buy 6 get free and using the half price deals already in store to get a better quality wine.
Any way to up your income to make saving easier? Sell things on eBay/Carboot (you would be amazed at what some people will buy).
A friend called a local taxi company who were happy to charge the usual rate for the journey and put ribbons on the cars for nothing!
Depending on the ages of the children you could have a games corner for them (Snakes & Ladders, Uno, that sort of thing), or a colouring corner with a theme with a couple of prizes on the day for the best picture?
Rather than hire or buy suits could the men use what they have already.
Who needs favours???
If you really wants sweets what about the 10p bags of haribo? Would also double up as favours and keep the kids happy!
Do you have a friend that could do your hair for you or could you ask for vouchers for the chosen Salon as birthday/christmas gifts?:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Thanks for the advice, sometimes you just need other people to point things out to you...some are so clearly obvious:oCould you reduce the cost of your catering by changing the menu? Dropping the starter and maybe using the cake as dessert? This is an idea, thought maybe dropping the canapes, not having a starter, just go with main and maybe cake for dessert?
Look out for offers in supermarkets for Wine, I got £250 wine earlier this year for a party for £98 when Sainsbugs did buy 6 get free and using the half price deals already in store to get a better quality wine.Had planned to do this:)
Any way to up your income to make saving easier? Sell things on eBay/Carboot (you would be amazed at what some people will buy).Have sold most valuable things and don't have much else to sell.
A friend called a local taxi company who were happy to charge the usual rate for the journey and put ribbons on the cars for nothing! That is another solution, guess I just didn't like the idea of a cab?

Rather than hire or buy suits could the men use what they have already.Either that or I thought buy a cheap suit?
Who needs favours???True!

Do you have a friend that could do your hair for you or could you ask for vouchers for the chosen Salon as birthday/christmas gifts?Don't have anyone who could do my hair, was thinking of not having my hair done anyway as its short and spikey and can't see how the hairdresser could style it any different then I would myself? Was just going to get my daughters done as she wanted it curled and partially up:)[/QUOTE]0 -
