Barclays & PPI (long sorry)
Basically on Wednesday we went into Barclays to see if we can have the PPI removed, they informed us that we would have to apply for a new loan, which we did and were approved but at 19.9%, i said thanks but no thanks!
Having read some threads regarding Barclays PPI and temporary workers I decided to check my hubbys paperwork to see if he was covered. As it stated nothing today we went to Barclays and questioned the PPI with a personal advisor, who said he was unsure and would have to check with the manager. He was gone for some while and then came back and said he knew we'd been into the bank previously in the week and why weren't we happy with what we'd been offered (a loan of 19.9%). He was clearly skirting around the subject so I asked him straight out and yep you've guessed it, it doesn't cover temporary workers!
I said to him as this was the case we have been mis-sold this product. He knew what was coming and informed us straightaway how to complain (which we did there and then with him). Within about 2 hours we had a call from Barclays in Dublin telling us that it would still cover in the event of death, very expensive life assurance I think! and after a little nudging said they would have to investigate with the branch but basically if the branch said we told them we were permanent then we'll have to take it to the financial ombundsmen, but lets face it Barclays are likely to deny it.
Sorry it's so long but just want to know if anyone else has had this and what was the outcome?
Thanks and sorry again!

I've not removed PPI this way, but I did manage to do it. And it was via writing to the Customer Relations Dept place about 3 times until they got bored of me and took it off. It meant refinancing the loan at the same APR but it certainly is possible.
Good luck with your claim
:heartpuls CG :heartpulsEver wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0
