Petrol £200 (OH needs car at work and can be up to 70miles per day)

Where are the rest of the car costs(only ins shown)?
    Where are the work expences?

Where are the other essential SOA items like FOOD.

You need to work on this SOA.
  • £70 on mobile phones and £200 on nice meals leap out at me.

That's £3000 per year from your taxed income, so you're having to earn about £4,000 to pay for it.

    Hi again,

I've added some comments - the decision is yours as to whether or not you want to save in some of these places, it really is a personal choice.

Hope this helps give you some food for thought.

here's a breif overview of our situation

    Me £1500 (25k/annum)
    OH £1175 (20k/annum)
    Rent £425 (5k/annum)

    In £3000

    M1 £360 (70k at 3%)
    M2 £225 (22k at 2.75%)
Loans £390 (6.5k at 9%) when will the loans finish? Can you overpay?
Credit Card £100 (3k at 0%) how long is the 0% deal?
C/Tax £170 is this your 12 month figure or do you pay over 10 months? If you pay over 10 months then here is two lovely £170 payments off a debt or your mortgage :)
Elec £40 seems a little high, have you checked you are on the best tarrif, not paying estimated bills etc?
    Gas £20
TV/Net/Phone £40 check if this is the best deal
Mobile £70 there are some really good deals out there if you want to reduce this a bit. TBH our spend is this or more and I'm looking to cut mine down.
    House Ins £20
    LandLord Ins £15
    Car Ins £30
Petrol £200 (OH needs car at work and can be up to 70miles per day)
    Train £110
Medical £60 can you get any deals on this?
Clothes £100 do you really spend this every month or save it for larger purchases?
Entertainment £200 (1 nice meal and some wine a week) look at Martin's tips for deals
    Hols £150
Xmas, birthdays for all 7 nephews and nieces £100 Is this just £100 for the next few months or do you really spent £1200 pa on this? You can use the grabbit board etc to get some deals. I do Christmas gifts for a large family - 23 people for <£200, and they don't think we are mean! All about what you want to spend your cash on tho.
All my other mates getting married this year where apparently we can't wear the same dress and need to give them great gifts! £100
Savings £250 good idea to save
    What about groceries?

Check the SOA templates or budget planners to see what else you might be missing.

    Total £2750

Trying to build up a bit of cash in the current accounts so somewhere about the £150-£200 seems sensible based on this to put towards the mortgage no??

An SOA as suggested earlier is the best place to start.
