Here's my big revelations;
a. Anyone passing themselves off as chartered surveyors. (REALLY!!)
b. Making vendors wait deliberately.
c. Blatently lying to viewers, just to get them round there.
d. Paying me a measly £10k with no letup.
e. Using my own car and petrol expenses taking ages.
To be honest it was a. which was the reason I left. It shocked me totally when I was out measuring one day with one of the partners and our conversation led to the line, "so none of you are chartered surveyors or surveyors at all then?" I was outta there about two days later.
Truly. EAs are so unprofessional. They don't exactly work hard for their money. And if they did things properly in the first place then the ones that do rush about, simply wouldn't have to.
I simply don't trust them.
Shisters is the word you are looking for.
Don't work hard for my money???? I'm in the office for 8am most mornings and if I have a late appointment sometimes don't get home until 8pm. I don't get a lunch hour, I work 7 days a week some weeks! If I didn't give a damn about my clients then I would be in at 9am and finishing at 5pm trust me!
Unprofessional? I am a member of the National Associaton of Estate Agents, My company is a member of the Ombudsmen Scheme for Estate Agents amongst other professional bodies.
I have been in estate agency for 12 years and never once investigated by Trading Standards, or had any clients complain about the way I work or the service that they receive.
I have never once claimed to be a Chartered Surveyor although we do have them working alongside us.
And all this for below average basic wage......beleive me if I didn't love what I do there are plenty of other jobs I could do for more money. So jump on the bandwagon and slag of Estate Agents...........I for one can hold my head up high!!My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say

i have met a wide variety of estate agents some good, but many half-hearted in their approach. I saw a series of documentaries last year on a london based estate agent, and i must say, i changed my opinion, and even found myself feeling sorry for them !!
To be between a rock and a hard place - buyer wants to pay less, whilst seller wants a higher price - and trying to keep both happy must be a nightmare - plus all the time wasters who make appointments to view then just dont turn up.
and how you keep on top of chains (if you will excuse the expression !) is absolutely beyond me !!!
MissM sounds like a good 'un !!0
