Help Improve Debt

Hi i had a lot of debt with a few misses payments, late payments etc
Ive just recently cleared my cards and loans about two weeks ago.
Would this instantly increase my credit score
also what would i need to do improve credit and also as soon as my barclay card was cleared they reduced my limit to £270 from £600.
Does that affect my rating?

Unfortunately presciousb, if you have had defaults they will stay on your credit file for 6 years, but prospective lenders will take into account the dates, so their importance will diminish the older thay get.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
