Ipod as Christmas present

Hi

I have ordered my DD an ipod as a surprise for Christmas, I don't know anything about them and wondered if someone could give me some advice please.

I have seen the itunes gift cards in the supermarket, do I need to buy one of these to go with it or can you download tunes for free or cheaper than this (legally of course :D )

Many Thanks

zippy x

My Doctor told me that "1 out of 3 people who start smoking will eventually die." The other two apparently became immortal.

Zippy, I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but both me and hubby have MP3 players and with these you can put your existing CD collection onto it.

Dunno if this is possible with ipods (or you might already know this and I am stating the obvious!)

We done this as I was unsure about the whole downloading thing.

once you've downloaded iTunes onto the computer (you can do this without having an iPod) then you can upload all your CDs onto it as well as buy online. There are various free sites which teenagers (and others) use but they're not all legal. If you want to help her get started then a gift card is a nice idea but it's not necessary for her to be able to listen to things.
