Make me a yummy mummy

Options
Good Evening All,

This is my first time on this board so I hope its ok to start a thread off.

Basically I had my second child in April and now feel a frump!! I have nothing that fits and no idea what to buy, I hate shopping. I however feel I should make an effort, my DS has just started school and I stand out like a soar thumb compared to all the other mums.

So I need an outfit for my DD christening in a couple of weeks and basically a whole new wardrobe.

I am 5ft 6.5inches tall, I weigh between 10st and 10st 4lbs, I still have a mummy jelly belly, my bust is 38D and I am still breast feeding. I have dark hair and olive skin colour however I currently look quite sallow.

I am open to all shops apart from Dorothy Perkins, (don't ask!!)

Any help would be gratefully appricated

Butterfly

xx

Hi, I know how your feeling, I had my DS 17 months ago and I still feel like a 'slummy mummy' at times.

In regards to your complexion and feeling sallow - why not treat yourself to your favourite cleanser and have a little 'me' time. Massage it in to your skin and rinse off and follow with a luxorious face mask. Lots cheaper than salon treatments and you can choose your own products.

Have a long bubble bath and use a body brush or salt scrub, these will get rid of any dry skin and also boost the circulation. This will make you feel glowy all over. Paint your nails/toenails in your favourite colour.

Clothes wise (in general) - I found that tunic style tops were a godsend. They skim the tummy area and look great teamed with leggings/jeggings and boots. Long chunky knitted jumpers are also good. New Look has some pretty things in atm, and they are very reasonable.

For the christening, what about a maxi dress? Again, these skim the tummy area and are very 'on trend'. I love this one but it is very overpriced (but you get the idea) http://www.asos.com/Ted-Baker/Ted-Baker-Tessalate-Print-Strapless-Maxi-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=1347611&cid=8799&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=20&sort=-1&clr=Black+Multi

    Hi,

    Welcome to the board :)

I don't like Dorothy Perkins either. Have you been into M&S recently, they have quite alot of styles. Per Una in particular, its not the cheapest mind, but you can tell that with the quality IYKWIM.

Mia said before me, about "me-time", and its really nice. I don't have children, but with all things being relative, I turn 40 next November, yes I know its a year away yet, but I've been dreading in for the last 18 months already.
Its such a simple thing really, but I've treated myself to some body cream, not the expensive sort, I assure you, but something nice from Boots and use this after my shower at nice. Its really nice when you then smell it afterwards.

If you fancy this, you can take advantage of Boots/M&S/Sainsburys who are all doing 3 for 2 on the xmas gifts at the moment, you can buy them all for yourself. :D
  • M&S is good as it is not too expensive however i love primark cause you can get good looking clothes really cheap, and newlook is good :-) hope this helps a little bit :-0
