Salary in North vs South

Not sure about the job in Louth but by my calculations £35000 in Armagh equates to a maximum take home pay of £2,172.85 per month before pension contributions are taken into account and more likely to be £2,091.18 when counting them - the minimum you'll be paying is 3.5% depending on which part of the 'government' the job is with, and this rate of contribution is likely to rise appreciably. (Though personal tax allowances may rise too.)

It's fairly accurate, though there may be additional deductions to factor in - car parking etc.
I'm sure there's an equivalent site for RoI if you have a look on the net.0 -
ciaran120 obviously no one can decide for you but I think the general consenus is you take the North job for many reasons...0

Your calculations for the south are way off, IMO.
According to my Calculations your take home in the south would be 3097.32 a month, which equates to around £2586 at 0.835.

+3660 Tax Credits
-7200 Lower Rate Tax
- 5576 Higher Rate Tax

The South is Right Royally Screwed from what I can see and when it comes under the power of France/Germany it'll get worse..... Stay in the north in my view!!0

as someone else mentioned amongst various other factors, if you work in the south the amount you have in £ each month will fluctuate based on the euro exchange rate
who knows what will happen with the euro but it's another degree of uncertainty if you work in the sout0
