Hi
Apologies if this is a daft question, or it has been answered before, but what is the difference between the "+" and "-" signs on dvdr discs, also the player i have just got, records onto "ram" discs.
Is there a noticeable difference in quality, usability, price etc?
The only thing i understand about the media is the "rw" part, i.e you can re-record over things, apart from that, i'm lost

My recorder can use RAM discs, they have a greater capacity, are more flexible in what you can do with them and in my opinion they are the better format. Unfortunately there are not many playes which support RAM so they aren't as popular.0

Here's a useful link I picked up when this was asked before

RAM discs aren't bigger than +/- discs, they just last longer than +/-RW in terms of number of recordings (something like 10k to 100k)0

so 9.4GB split between 2 sides is? The same size as a DVD disc. The majority of DVD-RAM discs are single sided and 4.7GB like a normal DVD. There are a few places that sell double sided cartridged RAM discs but these are the exception rather than the norm. Plus you have to turn them over to get the 'double capacity'.

How is that different from any double sided DVD? As Woby_tide said that's IS the same capacity."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
