Pressure Cookers - Buying

Hi there everyone. I'm looking for advice.
I had a bit of a disaster the other day while using my old Tefal pressure cooker. I took some vegetables off the stove and then opened the pressure cooker and then - how silly is this - put the pressure cooker lid down on the ring! This then cooked my pressure cooker lid for a little while before I smelt burning gaskett! Now the lid is useless! I will keep the pan as it's a good heavy one and has a pan lid with it but as a pressure cooker it only had 2 settings and no accessories and was thinking of upgrading anyway!
Can anyone recommend a good pressure cooker with good capacity, 3 weight settings and not too expensive?:D

I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...

And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!

If it is only the gasket that has melted, you should be able to get a new one.0

Unfortunately it looks as though the whole lid has buckled and the pressure valve and handles have cracked!

I bought a Tower when my old Prestige went belly up, after about 20 years of constant use. I was so unhappy with it I chucked it into the charity shop bag and went back to Prestige.
I bought a smartplus at Debenhams sale for just under £40, and then found it was in Asda much cheaper
I don't know whether Asda still have them but I can certainly recommend it0 -
I have a prestige stainless steel one so it can go in the dishwasher!Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0

Thanks very much for that everyone. I think a Prestige it is then!:j
And have a great weekend!

Hi, dronid! Have you tried Freecycle? Pressure cookers are the sort of thing that come up from time to time, and if you ask for one, you may be lucky!

Are you a member of freecycle? Cos when I joined my local branch it was made plain they frown on people who ask for stuff as soon as they join. You are expected to make an offer of a couple of things first0

Don't forget Aldi and Lidl regularly have a very nice stainless steel pressure cooker, admittedly it only has two setting but it works fine. Very similar to the prestige and much cheaper, around £19 The prestige gaskets fit it, I know because just after I bought it from Lidl's I did the same as you and put the lid near a lit gas and melted the gasket so had to renew it.My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

No I haven't but it's an excellent point - I shall check it out! Thanks!Penelope_Penguin wrote:Hi, dronid! Have you tried Freecycle?fudgem wrote:Are you a member of freecycle?
I am a member though I've never used the service. I've probably got a few things I can offer. I can understand why they'd hope for some input, I imagine that participation rather than just taking is what they're after, mind you, if someone had nothing I wouldn't begrudge what I could give.

I will check that out, unfortunately I tend to never get there on the days they have things coming out and being in Central London they tend to go before I finish work! Thanks though, and it's nice to know I'm not the only one!
