Oh my God! Was going to post this yesterday but just didn’t get round to it.
Made a beef stew yesterday with herb dumpling.
Bit into a dumpling and it tasted seriously odd.... as did the rest of the stew. When I checked the what was unopened bag of Atora suet I saw it had a best before dat of 2016.
Ended up having to throw the whole lot out inc. £16 worth of beef.
Advice chuck the out of date suet!!0 -

I agree, but maybe yours was beef suet & not the veggie one?
However for the price of a packet of suet not worth the risk of spoiling a mealWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0 -
So wish I had seen this sooner I had veggie suet that was several years past it’s best before and it was rancid totally ruined my delicious stew that had been slow cooking all afternoon.-1

How reeeaally strange. My entry and someone elses have both disappeared. Just wondered who had actually resurrected this post ie a newbie, where the heck do they find these posts.0

Bejesus! Just did the same thing - vegetable suet was 8 years out of date, looked and smelled fine so made dumplings, 20 minutes later my (hitherto) delicious dish tasted like poison! I actually tried to eat it, had half a portion then threw my next four days of food out. So now will probably have the runs to look forward to later! Not the best Saturday.0
